This past week, I had the opportunity to speak at a meeting of the International Association of Clinical Research Nurses about the clinical allergy research I’ve done in the past! I was thrilled to participate on a panel and discuss my experiences doing research for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. The main audience consisted of research nurses and research study coordinators from various departments.
Being asked to share my experiences puts the work I’m doing into perspective. As I am someone with no medical background, it’s an honor that my opinion can be so valued.
My mom and my friend, Carla from the Research Participant Advisory Council at Children’s were on the panel with me! We were asked questions through a moderator and the attendees were free to ask questions or share their own experiences. These types of interactions between research participants and medical professionals provide the opportunity to improve the research process.
